SFSS Health & Dental Plan
A growing number of important health-care services aren’t covered by provincial health care (i.e. MSP). The Plan is a valuable service provided by your undergraduate Simon Fraser Student Society to fill the gaps left by provincial health care.

All SFU undergraduate students who are registered for 3 or more credits in September or January at Burnaby, Surrey, or Vancouver campuses are automatically enrolled when paying fees to SFU.
This includes international students, exchange or study abroad students, and students participating in a Co-op program. Certain exceptions may apply. Please check your student account online at go.sfu.ca to confirm if you have been charged the Plan Fees.
How much does it cost?
The Plan fee is $198.00 for full-year coverage (Sept. 1 - Aug. 31).
The breakdown is $78.05 for Health and $119.95 for Dental.
The Plan fee will be automatically included in your tuition and other fees.
New students enrolled in the Spring or who enrol themselves in the Summer semester pay a pro-rated fee for coverage until Aug. 31.
Can I enrol my family?
You can enrol your spouse/dependants each year by completing an enrolment process and paying an additional fee. Common law and same-sex couples are eligible. Visit ihaveaplan.ca during the appropriate Change-of-Coverage Period and follow the on-screen instructions for enrolments.
How do I claim?
Instructions and claim forms available at ihaveaplan.ca.
Covered by another plan?
Being enrolled as a dependant in a parent or spouse’s employee benefit plan often requires your family member to pay additional costs. Your student Plan may provide better value. You can also combine it with your other plan to maximize your overall coverage—up to 100%.
Alternatively, you can opt out of the SFSS Health & Dental Plan and receive a credit to your student account if you have equivalent health and/or dental coverage—typically a group benefits plan provided through your employer, that of your parents’ or spouse’s employer.
You will need to provide proof of your other group benefits, such as a copy of your benefits card or a letter from the employer.
If you opted out last year, you won’t need to provide proof of other coverage this year. Visit ihaveaplan.ca during the appropriate Change-of-Coverage Period and follow the on-screen instructions for opt outs.
