SFU Women’s Centre

(see SFU Women's Centre web site)

The Women’s Centre provides programming, space and volunteer opportunities to self-identified women on campus, and resource info and peer support to women and men. The Women’s Centre Collective, the decision-making body of the Centre, is made up self-identified women students. New Collective members are always welcome.

The Women’s Centre has a self-identified women-only lounge that is always open, a resource office and extensive library with over 3,000 books, zines and videos. There is a kitchen with microwave and fridge, free phone, study carrels, couches and a quiet play area for children in the lounge.

Self-identified Men can access the library through catalogues housed in SFP!RG in the South Rotunda and the Belzberg Library. All genders can also access referral information and peer support by calling or emailing the Women’s Centre.

The Women’s Centre is:

  • Pro-feminist: Committed to the struggle for women’s rights and active against all forms of oppression. Freedom for one must mean freedom for all! Committed to ensuring women’s right to control their bodies and their reproductive lives.
  • Trans and Intersex woman inclusive: Committed to ensuring Trans and Intersex women’s rights are respected and protected in the Women’s Centre, on SFU campuses and everywhere.
  • Sex-positive: Committed to providing sex positive information that promotes pleasure, growth, honest communication, safety and informed choices across all genders, orientations and expressions.
  • Anti-Racist: Committed to new dynamics of respect within the diversity that is on the hill and beyond!
